Early Works

Here are just a few examples of my many paintings from 2005 and earlier. You can see how my paintings have changed over time. Generally because of the way I was trained in art school to follow conceptual art, my earlier paintings are based largely if not entirely on imagination (though they are really more expressionist than conceptual, I can’t help it). Over time I have gravitated more strongly towards observation , with the aid of my sketches and the digital photographs I take as part of my journaling. In some cases you can see where these ways of working started to overlap.

Many of these works are available for sale directly from the artist. The prices do not include shipping, which is added at cost. For more information you can send inquiries using the email form.

  1. Hey Mary, I love your work, you are a great artist and I like what a see….maybe I will be at Dawson this summer and that will be great to see your work…if you want naturally…

  2. Lovely work Mary!! I’ve just found you through ColourLovers and I can see that you are very talented. Looking forward to seeing more of your works on this blog.

  3. Hey Mary, how’s it going? I’ve been missing your art!!! When we moved to the townhouse, everything got disorganized…2&1/2 years ago! This spring I finally realized that Jimmy’s hogging all the walls with HIS paintings… he kinda grinned sheepishly when I finally figured it out. But I want the dyptych (sp?) of the fox in the snow disappearing and then looking back over his shoulder – I love the mysterious humour :) Miss you! – Love Sue

    • Hey Soo! Good to hear from you again :) well that’s okay if you didn’t hang my painting for awhile, because now it will feel like a new painting. Good to hear Jimmy has been so productive. I will send you an email later ;)
